The PE1 Infrared Thermometer is a great basic unit. It has a range of  -33C to +220C and MAX/MIN/LOCK modes, the PE1 will meet the needs of 95% of users. This unit comes preset with a default emissivity of 95E, and a D:S (Distance to Spot) ratio of 1:1. The PE2 has a few more advanced features than the PE1,  but retains a great retail price that is completely unbeatable in the infrared thermometer world! The PE2 unit adds a red sighting laser, and an expanded temperature range to 250ºC. The PE2 has an adjustable emissivity setting for precise calibration, and perhaps best of all, a tight infrared "cone" distance to spot ratio (D:S) of 8:1. That means at a distance of 20cm (8 inches), you are reading an area just 2.5cm (1 inch) in diameter, while at a distance of 60cm (2 feet), an area of just 7.5cm (3 inches).
